NxtUp...Siena
Siena on October 9thOn Eric's birthday we all traveled by train to Siena for the day. That city was not the sleepy place I thought it was. There were lots of tourists and more designer retail on the main street than I would have thought. Eric and I climbed to the top of the tower at the Piazza del Campo for a scenice view on a gorgeous day.
We did not see a lot of scaffolding on our trip, but the duomo in Siena had a canvas with an image replicating the facade. We were lucky enough the see the mosaic floors which are uncovered a few months a year. All my repressed Catholicism came bubbling up in the face of the church of the Madonna.
