Another Step Closer to Equal Rights

Historic Same-Sex Kiss

Traditionally one sailor is chosen by raffle to disembark a US Navy vessel and kiss the person waiting for him/her. Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta was chosen and her girlfriend, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, was waiting. Marissa bought 5o tickets and said she believed others aboard the ship bought tickets in her name. As a result the first same- sex was seen since the repeal of DADT. As Gaeta and Snell kissed the crowd cheered.

This moment to me is similar to the famous Times Square kiss photo at the end of WWII.
Let's hope this moment brings us closer to more civility and humanity.
